Specialties
There are lots of piano, voice, guitar, and singing teachers, but not a lot that put it all together and show your child how to combine storytelling and all those skills to create a song. Eleanor’s energetic, passionate attitude and familiarity of caring for kids makes her lessons challenging yet fun for your child. *Eleanor can teach groups or individual children.*
What will my child get out of my lessons?
Eleanor’s Songwriting Lessons for Children will awaken your kid's creative fire! Your child will be able to produce and share a finished song within 3 lessons. They'll learn to take their everyday experiences or imaginations and turn them into a pop piece, or any genre, as they accompany themselves on guitar or piano (or have me accompany them while they sing depending on their preferences). They'll study their favorite songs and how they work.
If your kid loves creating stories and putting them to music, then this is the class for you!
History
Established in 2023.
Eleanor grew up taking music lessons, including songwriting, and felt they were essential to her development as an artist and overall human being. She decided she wanted to give back to her community and share the craft. She now teaches musical composition, storytelling, accompanying yourself, and public performance to her students. She creates a place to freely analyze and confidently express kids’ emotions and worldview. Learning songwriting was so empowering and defining for her, and she loves to pass it along to the younger generation.
Meet the Business Owner
LA native Eleanor Hammond is a singer, songwriter, guitarist, pianist, and actor. She has a BA in theater from UC Berkeley. During her time at Cal, she produced and performed two original musicals she wrote. She has nannied/taught music to kids ages 0-15 and has been a Songwriting Teacher at Camp Wildfolk. She also performed at KidSpace Museum. While teaching, Eleanor is nannying, producing her debut album, writing pop songs in the sync world for film/tv/commercials, and finding her next pair of vintage cowboy boots.

Rates
For a single child or two children (negotiable for bigger groups):
45 min (great for younger kids) - $70
60 min - $90
*Eleanor takes $10 off if you do a remote lesson or if you drive to her location. Her prices cover lesson prep and driving time as well.*

Do you teach groups ever?
She teaches individuals and groups!
Do you offer remote lessons?
Yes, she offers lessons through Zoom, and will take $10 off due to it being a remote lesson.
Do you come to us or do we drive to you?
She can travel anywhere in LA county (lesson price might change depending on if it’s a considerable distance away). You can also come to her house in Los Feliz where she has a grand piano and a lot of guitars.
How do I pay you?
Cash or Zelle is preferred.
